    Description

"Remembering Walt" Favorite Memories of Walt Disney.
Published: Hyperion, New York, 1999.  Hardcover with dust jacket.  First edition, first printing.  The book and dust jacket are in excellent, unread (like new) condition.  The books authors Amy and Howard Green have captured the essence of Walt Disney through the voices of the many lives he touched.  Whether as a family member, friend, colleague, employer, or public figure, Walt was there for everyone.  Walt's contemporaries pay tribute to a visionary, a perfectionist, a storyteller, a genius-the man they call boss, dad, husband, brother, artist, and friend.  I purchased this book at Disneyland when it was issued in 1999.  I had it signed by the animators at a Disney collector show held in Anaheim, Ca. almost 20 years ago.  There are 10 animators that signed the book, 9 were Disney and the 10th
animator, Lew Ott, worked in animation at different Hollywood film studios.  A great piece of Disney memorabilia to have for the serious collector of Disney.

Sadly on July 9, 2004 Sam passed away at the age of 79. On May 17, 2006 Disney bestowed upon Sam the ultimate and most rare honor of all by placing his name on a window on Mainstreet in Disneyland. This honor has been bestowed on only a select few.
    Bob Gurr

During his almost 30 year career at Imagineering Bob created over 100 designs for attractions that included the Disneyland Monorail, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Autopia cars, the memorable Flying Saucers, original Abraham Lincoln audio-animatronics figure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, as well as the Carousel of Progress and Magic Skyway at the N.Y. Worlds Fair.

    Xavier Atencio
or X. as his friends call him, began his career in 1938 as an in-betweener on Pinocchio and as an Assistant Animator on Fantasia. Later he became an Animator on short subjects including the academy award winning “TOOT, WHISTLE, PLUNK and BOOM”.
In 1965, at Walt’s request, he moved to WED Enterprises (Imagineering). Walt asked him to write the dialogue and lyrics for the “Pirates of the Caribbean”. His first song “Yo Ho a Pirates Life for Me” is one of the most memorable and loved songs at Disneyland.
Teaming up with musician director Buddy Baker, his next song "Grim Grinning Ghosts" for the Haunted Mansion had equal success.
Retiring in 1984, X was appropriately named a Disney Legend in 1996.
