Description
A very sweet and colorful small trinket dish by W.H. Goss, made as a commemorative souvenir of the Coronation of H.M. Edward VIII. H.M. Edward served as King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Empire and Emperor of India from January 20, 1936 until his abdication in December of the same year. He abdicated his position to marry Wallace Simpson. As a twice divorced American woman, she was religiously, politically and socially unacceptable as a prospective queen consort. He was succeeded in his monarchy by his younger brother George VI. Edward's reign of 326 days, made him the shortest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. This small trinket dish is bright and lovely and very fragile. Looking at it from above, you can see a small flaw in the making on the top left middle scallop. Turn it over, and there is a very shallow flake on the right corner scallop and several minor rough spots can be felt with the finger tips. It is beautiful nonetheless and if you collect royalty you should have it.
